Izmir Entrepreneurship Trainings in English

The Entrepreneurship Support Program that will operate under IMECE livelihood project, which was launched in a multifaceted way to improve the socioeconomic situation of Syrian refugees living in 9 cities in Turkey, will start with “Regional Entrepreneurship Trainings” that will take place in each project city. The cities that the trainings will take place are; İstanbul, İzmir, Konya, Kayseri, Adana, Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, Hatay ve Mersin.

Regional Entrepreneurship Trainings, which are 2 days long programs, will be organized by Turkish, English and Arabic speaking trainers in “Arabic”. The trainings that will benefit 700 refugees and host community members will include content and workshops that will help participants to acquire knowledge about basic concepts of entrepreneurship. These concepts will include the main points for starting a business. The training and workshop contents will cover the following topics regarding entrepreneurship;

  1. Entrepreneurship motivation,
  2. Entrepreneurship ecosystem and opportunities,
  3. Developing a new business idea,
  4. Defining the mission, vision and the goal
  5. Entrepreneurship types,
  6. Lean business,
  7. Value proposition design,
  8. Business model canvas,
  9. Business idea presentation,
  10. Starting a company and company types.

The trainings will also be encouraging pilot activities focused on creating and the development of entrepreneurial potential. The primary aim of the trainings will be to help participants to prepare a “Business Idea Presentation”.  During the trainings, it is expected that the participants’ skills are improved and awareness is raised regarding to the following topics;

  • Defining their motivation for starting a business,
  • Defining the need / problem,
  • Becoming aware of their personal experiences and knowledge,
  • Performing a 4-step validation;
    • Team
    • Product
    • Customer
    • Market
  •  Determining the needs and the characteristics of the team,
  • Identifying and listing the product functions and features,
  • Defining the customer segment,
  • Detecting the market and the sector,
  • Designing value propositions,
  • Defining a sustainable business model,
  • Determining the needs for realizing the business idea,
  • Defining their vision, mission and goals.

The main outcome of the 2 day long trainings will be this “Business Idea Presentation”. The presentations of the participants will include the following titles;  

  • Definition of the Need/Problem
  • Solution
  • Product Definition, Product Functions
  • Business Model and Pricing (if applicable)
  • Customer Segment and Market Potential
  • Team
  • Vision and Mission
  • What are the sources needed for realizing the business idea?

It is highly suggested that the participants, who attend the Entrepreneurship Camps and Food Ecosystem Workshops could apply for the Entrepreneurship Local Trainings. Participants who are interested can also apply for an “Entrepreneurial Grant”. The participants who complete the trainings will be given an IMECE Entrepreneurship Local Training Participation Certificate.
